St.Louis, MO - With the whole coaching staff expiring, the Sunkings management had to be busy in offseason. After 3 seasons with Dalton Redd as headcoach, the Sunkings appointed former Boston Buzzards Assistant Clay Houck as the new man guiding the team. "We thank Dalton for everything that he has done for our franchise. We are sorry that he decided to take a new challenge, he will always be welcomed here in St. Louis", said Sunkings GM Dominik Jenewein.
Alongside Clay Houck, the management brought in 3 new assistant coaches and a new scout. Wilson Lopez (formerly Philadelphia Americans), Reed Thomas (Montreal Mayhem)and Horace Cooper (Indiana Invaders) complete the coaching staff. Charles Johnson, former Denver Demons scout, takes head of the scouting department.
All new members of the franchise are bound on 1-year contracts. When asked about why, GM Jenewein stated: "With Dong Richardson and Emanuel Devos expiring, we face an uncertain offseason next year. Furthermore we were quite limited financially this year. That's why we decided to go with short contracts and see how the season goes. If the team does well, the staff has a good chance to gain a new and longer contract next offseason. But this year is about getting to know each other and see how they adapt to the new surroundings.
Headcoach Houck has recourse to a young, talented squad with stars like Dong Richardson and Frank Williams being the leaders of the team. Furthermore veterans like Emanuel Devos, Jaylon Urbin, Arron Schwartz and Timothy Lawless round up the team as well as young superstar Timothy Adler. The goal for the season is a clear one: Playoffs. If Houck can't manage to reach postseason, his time in St. Louis might be a short one.
