Denver. Only hours before the Denver Demons game against defending OBWL champion St. Louis Sunkings there's troubling news breaking. Reportedly Demons headcoach Bo Balzer has threatened to resign from his position while no less than a third of the team has demanded to be traded before or over the weekend. If rumors are true it would be the end of the Demons as a title contending team.

Demons and SunKings met for the first time since last years finals just three days ago, the Demons lost 104-105 in St. Louis and the game which saw Denver leading by 7 with under three minutes to go was a great reminder of last years thrilling finals.

But right before the much anticipated re-match in Denver it looks like the Demons are facing serious problems once again which could end Denvers two year run as an OBWL powerhouse. Rumors have been surfacing for weeks and seem to pop up now at the worst possible moment.

Despite a 28-13 record and the top spot in National West division GM Klaus von Meyerinck has been publicly badmouthing his team and some players on a daily basis for weeks now. Not a day went by without KvM whining, bitching and complaining. As it seems especially newly hired C Charles Ottinger is the, well yes, center of KvM's attacks.

Just hours before the St. Louis game news now broke that Ottinger and at least four other players have asked and in part demanded that team owner James Anderson should trade them as soon as possible.

Furthermore HC Bo Balzer has reportedly threatened to resign, it's said that GM von Meyerinck has ordered Balzer to play a lineup against the SunKings the Demnos actually have not been using before - ever.

Reportedly this has happened before. KvM has been ordering his HC a few week ago to play SF superstar Greg Fore as PG during a short road trip. That two game stint ended with two losses, one at the New Jersey Enforcers. Balzer is said to have offered his resignation back then for the first time. Team owner James Anderson however has declined and asked him to stay.

No confirmation yet, but reporetdly Demons owner Anderson this time however has agreed to trade every player that has requested to be traded.

One deal is rumored which is labeled "so stunningly bad" for the Demons by an inside source that "the original goal of another deep playoff run can not be reached anymore." The same source is quoted: "Playoffs itself are more than questionable if this move is made. We will be the laughing stock of OBWL because we are waisting top notch players for nothing. Frustration here is at an all time high because the GM clearly is menatlly unfit for his job."

A lot of smoke? Or Denver in flames instead of on fire?

Chuck Tankman will report as soon as the story develops.
